Della (Kim Basinger), a lonely, suburban housewife, has tried so hard to make a beautiful home for her family but her husband, Kenneth, more concerned with his own life and job, doesn’t make it easy for her. 

It’s Christmas season and Della is meeting a friend at the local mall to begin the annual search for a long list of gifts.  It’s darker and colder than usual for this time of year and the jammed parking lot forces Della to park a half-mile from the mall.  Already tired and irritated, Della sees a Plymouth taking up two parking spaces.  Della writes and angry note and leaves it on the Plymouth, blaming the owner for her shopping plight.

Entering the shopping center, the bright Christmas lights, noise and crowds jostle Della even more.  Having had enough, she exits into the night and starts her car but is shocked to find the Plymouth is blocking her exit.  Furious, Della jumps out of the car…only to be confronted by four thugs – Chuckie, Huey, Vinh and Tomas.  Della shouts at them to back off but the angry thugs taunt and threaten her until her fear factor kicks in.  Suddenly, the parking lot security shows up and without hesitation, Chuckie draws a gun and shoots him in the head.  Stunned and petrified, Della dives into her car to escape the parking lot and the thugs give chase.

A dangerous car chase ensues…the thugs shooting crazily at Della.  Terrified, Della whips her car into a desolate forest and crashes into a tree – killing the engine, the lights and her last thread to safety.  Stunned but conscious, she realizes that this will be a fight for her life.  Desperate for anything that can be used as a weapon, Della rummages through her car and finds a toolbox.  She blindly navigates through the forest searching for an escape.  The thugs follow on foot and attach Della in an attempt to rape her.  Reaching for the tools, she manages to grab a wrench and stabs Chuckie in the collarbone.  The gang is stunned as they watch the blood spurt forth but Chuckie soon regains his strength through rage.  With nothing to defend herself with but a toolbox and her will to live, Della turns the tables on her pursuers.  Tomas is smashed in the face with a wrench.  Huey slips over a cliff and breaks his neck.  Two of their own are dead…and Della is still alive.

Now out for revenge, the remaining thugs continue to hunt their prey, until Della reverses the roles and starts hunting them.
